Our Story

The story of our little farm started with a dream of one day moving to the country decades ago. I grew up in the suburbs and my husband grew up in the city. We wanted to live a simpler life, know where our food comes from, and be more self-sustainable. In 2014 our dream came true when we purchased our little slice of heaven in the country. Neither of us knew much about agriculture, farm animals or even hay versus straw!

With the help of our neighbors, local mentors, and LOTS of research, we adopted our first two Kinder goats, Ellie and Mr. Frederickson in 2016. Can I tell you that there is nothing more therapeutic than a goat! They are amazing animals that bring joy to our lives everyday...even on stall mucking day haha! Shortly thereafter we adopted two more goats, Rusty and Ivy. We decided to breed our girls and five months later along came our moon spotted boy, Ollie, and a beautiful doeling, Maizy. We were then blessed with a set of twins, Scarlett and Chet.

When our does started producing milk, I could not wait to make anything and everything with the milk. Turns out I have a knack for soap making! We wanted to remove chemicals and toxins from our lifestyle, so I started making simple soap recipes for my family. Then I began experimenting with different sizes, shapes, scents, and colors. I started giving my soap as gifts and selling to family and close friends. I couldn’t believe the warm reception I received from all. And so it began.... Moonlit Lake Farm was born.
